I will go with Donat who was great followed by Karloff who was iconic. Laughton was his usual enjoyable self, Flynn did his usual thing which is good, never seen Muni but he is usually a pretty average actor.1.Robert Donat2.Boris Karloff3.Charles Laughton4.Paul Muni5.Errol Flynn
My guess:1. Muni2. Laughton3. Donat4. Karloff5. Flynn
Great line up. I completely forgot about Muni, though I do suppose he would be considered the most deserving since he did get the Oscar write-in.1. Robert Donat2. Charles Laughton3. Paul Muni4. Errol Flynn5. Boris Karloff
Actually I'm going to change and go:1. Donat2. Laughton3. Muni4. Karloff5. Flynn
Some other performances for the final rankings would be:Fred Astaire in Top HatEdward G. Robinson in Barbary CoastClark Gable in China SeasPeter Lorre in Crime and PunishmentFreddie Bartholomew in David Copperfield (I actually haven't seen this, so I don't know whether he or the adult Copperfield appears more)Fred MacMurray in Hands Across the TableFredric March in Les MisérablesLaurence Olivier in Moscow NightsGroucho Marx in A Night at the OperaGary Cooper in Peter IbbetsonDavid Manners in The Mystery of Edwin DroodClaude Rains in The Mystery of Edwin Drood (I haven't seen this one either, but I do know that the character of John Jasper is known as a more lead role in the musical adaptation of the novel)Ronald Colman in A Tale of Two CitiesDonald Woods in A Tale of Two Cities
I was actually going to suggest Claude Rains for Edwin Drood but then I thought I might be being a bit too greedy since I think ive tryed to get Rains on the alternate year every time he had a chance to be considered so in fairness to give others a chance I left him out.Rains is actually good in Edwin Drood but I dont think its quite up there with his best work.
also this is a bit off topic butwho was everybody more a fan of, Marlon Brando or his rival Montgomery Clift and why? =D
RatedRStar: From what I've seen, I like 'em both a lot. Also, I think y'all are underestimating Karloff.
I think he means who was the better out of the two, I like Brando more personally..
1. Muni2. Karloff3. Donat4. Flynn5. LaughtonOn a side note, are any of you guys watching the NCAA Tournament?
My predictions:1- Donat2- Muni3- Karloff4- Laughton5- FlynnI'd like to see your opinions about Astaire, March and Colman too!
1) Boris Karloff2) Robert Donat3) Charles Laughton4) Paul Muni5) Errol Flynn
Hi!1. Robert Donat2. Boris Karloff3. Charles Laughton4. Errol Flynn5. Paul Muni
RatedRStar: To answer your question I prefer Clift as he is more consistent on a whole. Brando I think gave the best performance of the two in On the Waterfront, but later in his career he gave too many performances where he was either self indulgent or just lazy.
